After reading this article, I have a renewed respect for flaxseed oil and all its benefits. It helps to promote growth, nourish and produce shine in hair (apply to hair as a leave-in serum after drying hair to maintain hair length and we all could use this); control constipation and helps reduces inflammation caused by gout and lupus; treat dry scalp; and sunburn, eczema and psoriasis (by taking the flax oil orally or putting a thin layer of it over the area).
AND, because I'm in the mental health field, I found it itneresting that flaxseed oil cna be used to help reduce symptoms of mental illness (say what?) This I gotta research some more, but there are other uses like to prevent CANCER and arthritis. Flaxseed oil also aids the body in overcoming stroke, high blood pressure, lowering cholesterol and overall reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. So, the benefits of flaxseed are vast. It can only do good. so try it out. I just remember the taste of it and I'm smacking my lips in dismay n horror, Lol. I was really young then so my feelings mayhave changed on the taste. Ladies rave about flaxseed wonders!
Oh yeah, other mixtures I've heard about for flaxseed oil, outisde of taking the pills orally are:
1. Take three to five flaxseed oil capsules and puncture them. Massage your scalp with this flaxseed oil for two or three minutes. Leave the flaxseed oil on your scalp for half an hour. Wash your hair with shampoo.
2. Dry hair treatment with flaxseed hair oil is to boil 2 cups of water. When the water simmers, add 2 tbsp of refines flaxseed oil. To this mixture, add the content of one vitamin A capsule and one vitamin E capsule. Mix the solution and let the solution cool a bit. Massage this to your hair and scalp. Keep for few minutes and wash off with shampoo.
3. To treat dandruff, massage flaxseed hair oil on your scalp and later wash away with one portion of apple cider vinegar and eight portion of water.
WARNING: I have read that flaxseed oil should not be used by women who are pregnant and for person with cancer. Not certain why, but figured I should include just in case.
