Hair Essentials - Dry Scalp? Here are some tips...

Okay, so I admit it. I have dry scalp. And though I may wash my hair every week or every two weeks, I still get dandruff. Then, with having natural hair, my hair soaks up whatever moisture from products I use to style my hair, so I keep applying, but as I keep applying products to the hair, my scalp gets dirty. SO...I used a solution given by a girlfriend of mine to reduce dry scalp.

ThE FiRsT TiMe I TriEd this product my hair worked beautifully. I did it again, using less of the aloe vera juice. WRONG MOVE! But, the best thing about using aloe vera juice is that you don't necessarily have to wash it after you use it. So, I'm going to try it again, with 2 tsps of Aloe Vera Juice and only 1tsp of Cantu with 2 tbsps on EVOO. Here is the pic of the products I used with the simple Formula Below it.

1 Tsp for Aloe Vera Juice, 1 Tsp of Cantu, 1-2 Tbsp EVOO

This is my hair after I applied the mixture to my curls. I spritz my hair with water only from a regular spray bottle and then applied the mixture to the root of my hair, working it onto my scalp.

This link actually gives other ideas for getting the right balance of chemicals on the scalp that would help to alleviate itchy scalp and dandruff.

Big twisted my hair, pinned the ends and wrapped with satin cap. Good Night!

So, I got lazy in the middle of it all, SUE ME!!! But, I was able to create a very cute on-the-go natural style.

Step 1:  Moisturize hair with whatever moisturizing products you use, gently please!

Step 2:  Loosely twist the very ends of your hair, by grabbing about 3-5 inches of hair and starting from the middle of the hair shaft, begin twisting the hair all the way to the ends

Step 3: Pin the ends of the hair inside the rest of the natural hair, so that all the ends are IN the natural bun

(NOTICE:  The twist creates some texture in the bun and its a protective style for the ends of your hair as well)

Step 4:  Grab a piece of clothe to wrap your hair, something that preferably matches what you're wearing for the day and tie it around your head and pull towards the center of the hair to create a "muffin top" effect for hair.

Have a nice Day! MuAh!

  2. Next time I will get some back pics in. You can also use lemon juice on your scalp to help with dandruff AND don't forget to leave the mixture in for 30 mins. You may need to change the consistency. Sooo. since I know your hair type, which btw is 4b or 4c (some type systems use 4c, others leave it at 4b) anyhoo, you may need more conditioner since your hair is a little bit dryer than mine, or rather the formula stated above would be better for you. As for me, I need more aloe vera juice because I used waaaay too much conditioner and i only got some of the dandruff out. Sooo, I need to re-apply. Or we could go back to the old skool methods and use the dark oils after a nice "scratch the dandrugg out" session. That reallllly helps, idc what anybody says. This method is for people who don't want to scratch is out.Let me know how it works for you! Ciao!
