Hair Essentials - Natural Hair DIY Two Strand Braids

Happy Tuesday All,

I totally did not post recent wedding style done. I'll probably post that later this week. I'm not certain I took pictures of the style. :-/ At any rate, I decided to try a two strand braid twist out to see how it would look on me and if it will set well. I have done a two strand braid twist out on wet hair, but it was extremely small twist and I wanted my hair to be fluffier and stretched out. That look turned out like this:

Notice the very small curls, which is not too far from my usually curl pattern. So, to create the larger curls, I followed these steps:

Using these products/tools:

Best-Natural-Hair-Products

Spray bottle is just a mix of water and moisturizer :-)

Step 1: I combed out my washed and stretched out hair with wide-tooth comb (I used about 8 -10 plaits to stretch out my hair while it was wet)

Step 2: Parted it across the middle (from ear to ear)

Step 3: Parted the top half in order to  strand braid the hair coming from the middle part to my front hairline

Step 4: Spray contents in spray bottle (approx. 3 squirts and work through hair from root to tip), moisturize with JCS curl cream product and then seal with a little CO (Coconut Oil)

Step 5: Repeated the steps 3-4 until the entire front was done.

Step 6: Repeat steps 4-5 but in about 4-5 braids from the middle part to the nape of my neck

Step 7: Curl the end of each braid with a curling rod (I was short a curling rod or two in this video)

Step 8: Cover with night cap and get ready for bed

This video shows how I took it out:

Here are the results:

Final Step: When I took al the braids out, I separated it and fluffed it up as much as I could. Hopefully, it still looks good this evening. I will probably do another video to show maintenance done to keep the style for another day or so. Stay tuned!

I think it turned out pretty well for my first time doing it.
Things I would do differently.
1. Try it completely on wet hair
2. Use less coconut oil on each two strand braid (hair feels slightly oily, thank goodness it doesn't look super oily though)

That's all for now. Hope you enjoyed my short video. :-)

Hair Essentials - Two strand braid & Twist out do

So last week I've been rocking a simple twist out do. I did not retwist my hair and did not have any issues with my hair ends. Of course, I have been moisturizing my hair and sealing my ends and wearing my 2 in 1 bonnet at night. I think what was more helpful is that my bonnet has a plastic cap on the other side which captures any extra moisture in my hair and keeps my hair soft. I'm beginning to think this 2-in-1 bonnet thing was a great idea by CVS. I haven't seen it anywhere else before. At any rate, here is a pic of my do.

Also, I did my girl's hair so she can celebrate her Sorority. The Deltas. She posted recent pics on her instagram so I know the style is still lasting. Here are some pics. The last couple pics showed the front after a roller set with the twists I did in the front. Really cute!

Hair Essentials - Hair To Dye For 3

So here are the pics. It kinda sucks that you can't really see the color that well.Charge it to my camera and not the actual dye. I might have to get someone else to take pics or take pictures outside. Either way, here's the prepared style.

Buuuuuuuuuut, I have a big forehead so I couldn't keep it this way as cute and as protective as the style was, so I took the twists out last night and combed them through. I added hair to the front and back of it, but ended up taking out half of the hair i added because I didn't want an overdone look. I could have not used any hair at all, but my hair was styled while it was wet (shrinkage occurred) and I didn't want to blow dry the hair for a puffier look. TEASING HAIR is just not an option for me. Here are the results.

Style before I took out the additional hair

The first pictures, you can see the color more than the second set. Probably because of where I took the pictures. At any rate, you get the idea. I'm going back to get the ends of my hair colored so that it's similar to the roots of my hair. I'm really excited about the color. It took a small bit for me to get accustomed to the color because it has been soooo black for so long. I love my natural color, black, and i love the natural method I used to achieve the color I have now. My hair still feels healthy and nice, so the development of the color has not affected my hair that I can see. After a couple more weeks and washes, we'll see if I still feel the same.

Here's to being red and loving it! Live on Purpose, MuAh & CiAo! :-)

Hair Essentials - Two strand braids

WaNtEd TO do SoMeThInG different with my hair for my first day of work on the NEW JOB! So, I did two-strand braids and I'm just gonna rock this style for the rest of the week. I've been monitoring how the products have been affecting my type 4A hair. Seems like the Hair Mayonnaise dries my hair out, but I'm uncertain if it is the Leave-In Conditioner or not...I'll have to use them seperately and see what happens.

check these out.

These last two pics are of two two-strand braids that I refer to as a the nicer version of slave braids. Hey, to each his own right. BUT, these styles are pretty simple and are both protective styles.
