I get it. You have straightened your hair so much, there are straight ends all over the place! What do you do? Well,I have definitely experienced this. Straight ends are heat damaged and can be caused either by pressing of natural hair too much without protecting hair and/or using the curling iron or flat iron for everyday styling. Too much heat is not good for your hair. I use Carol's Daughter heat protectant when pressing my hair and I pin curl my hair or wrap my hair at the end of day to avoid using additional heat throughout the week. Currently my hair is pressed and it had been pressed now for 2.5 wks, but with it being so hot out, I have been wearing it in two-strand braids. See pic
But, here are some things I have done to rid hair of heat damaged straightened ends:
1. Apply heat protectant on hair prior to blow drying and pressing hair
2. Protect curls or create curls with curling rods to avoid styling with heat for everyday wear
3. Allow hair to rest between presses. ( I press my hair approx 3-4 x's in the past 12 months.)
4. Pin curl hair or wrap hair to avoid applying add'l heat to hair for everyday wear
5. You can also cut the damaged hair off.
6. Use textured styles like curling rods, spiral rods, and Bantu knots to create a consistent texture throughout hair.
7. Braid hair in protective style
I used option 6 when I was transitioning from permed to natural. I have used all of these steps to work around heat damaged hair and create texture and getting rid of heat damaged hair for a thicker more textured natural look.
Tell me what works for you, I would love to hear it! Until then, live on purpose. MuAh and CiAo!
