Body Essentials - Heat and Its Effects

So, because many of the people at my cook-out were overwhelmed with HEAT on Memorial Day, I figured this was a much needed post. I found some information about the effects of heat and why after being in it causes exhaustion.

But if you're being lazy, here are a few things to look out for:

CAUSES
  • Alcohol use
  • Dehydration
  • Heart disease
  • High temperatures or humidity
  • Medications such as diuretics, neuroleptics, phenothiazines, and anticholinergics
  • Prolonged or excessive exercise
  • Sweat gland problems
  • Too much clothing

All else fails, if you see any of these symptoms, call 911 and begin first aid. Better to be safe than sorry. Speaking of First Aid. I recently got recertified. So anyone around me with any heat issues, I got you. Lol. Take the opportunity to recertify or become certified in First Aid & CPR. It is always good to have this information and know how best to respond in case of emergencies.
